Overview
This article provides instructions on how to import content from another blog.
Information
When importing content from a WordPress blog each post and page will be assigned to a current user on your site. Make sure you add the user, which you wish to assign post and pages to, to your blog before you go through this process. Currently you cannot create a new user during the process.
In the blog you wish to export data from:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Select Tools, then Export.
- Choose Download Export File and save it to your hard drive.
In the blog you wish to import data into:
- Log in to your dashboard.
- SelectTools, then Import.
- Choose WordPress.
- Click Choose File and browse to find the file you saved earlier.
- Click Upload file and import.
- Assign the posts to an existing user by selecting the user from the -Select- drop-down menu.
- You must select a user from the drop down menu. Using the “Import author” function will not work.

- If you wish to include file attachments with the posts, check the box under Import Attachments.
- In order to import the images into your new site, the site from which you are exporting content must have privacy settings set as public.

- Click Submit.
